This bug is genuinely a problem.  Tossing in my two cents.

Note that this is not anything special in Adobe - cairo just isn't doing any
basic antialiasing at all.

Compare the image from Poppler-Evince to the same image (extracted from
Evince's PDF) in the GNOME Image Viewer.
