The pdf file, which can be downloaded from google books, contains images of
scanned text and images of scanned engravings. When the pdf is viewed with
evince, or converted with gimp, the images containing text display, but the
images containing the illustrations do not display. Furthermore there are
errors on the terminal:
Error (636073): Error in JPX stream
(repeated multiple times)

The pdf file displays correctly in acroread (v.9)

I'm using poppler v 0.12.0 with the glib front end on ubuntu 9.10 

I notice this report is similar to
