I also have this problem using all libpoppler-based pdf-viewers. But it's not
only with muti-colun text, but also with vertical-oriented text and upper or
lower indexes. When i try to select a word on a line, which contain these
symbols, they are become selected to. It often happens whith indexes in other
columns.
