This has been originally reported by hegdo in the Ubuntu bug tracker:

The following document does not show any text, both with evince and okular,
while xpdf and acrobat reader show the correct document:

The bug has been reported for poppler 0.14.3 (Ubuntu 10.10) but does still
occur with poppler 0.16 (Ubuntu 11.04).


It seems to be a font issue, evince and epdfview print:

some font thing failed
Error: could not create truetype face

okular prints:
Error: Couldn't create a font for 'WPCUBE+Arial-Bold'
Error: Couldn't create a font for 'WPCUBE+Arial-Italic'
Error: Couldn't create a font for 'WPCUBE+Arial'
