paper that causes evince to dump core

i'm using ubuntu 10.10:
Linux 2.6.35-32-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 3 00:47:07 UTC 2012 x86_64
GNU/Linux

when i try to open the pdf of this paper [1] evince crashes and dumps core.

bug is reproducable.
