Don't apologize for anything, it's Your and my spare time, nothing else. On the
contrary, we have to thank for Your great work and patience with us.
But the reason for my additional comment: I just made a few more tests:
Multi-threading pdftoppm on my dual core laptop under 32 bit Windows XP reduces
the rendering time to round about 58 percent for a 20 page document. Of course
there is some overhead for thread handling, and another reason is that font are
no more globally cached, but I think this is a great improvement.
