PDF with black picture

When opening the attached PDF file, the picture at the top is shown as a black
rectangle. I used xreader on Linux Mint 18.1, but apparently this PDF has the
same problem with:

    * Xreader 1.2.2
    * Okular 0.24.2
    * Evince 3.18.2
    * Atril 1.16.1 which uses poppler 0.41

Printing does not work either.

Acrobat Reader on Windows displays and prints the PDF without any problem.

System:
    * Mint 18.1

Installed packages:

    * xreader 1.2.2+serena
    * poppler 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.1

$ ldd /usr/bin/pdfimages | grep poppler
        libpoppler.so.58 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpoppler.so.58
