Hard to say because it could be a bug in poppler or it could be you installed
it wrong. You mentioning "/usr/bin/pdfsig" makes me think it's installed wrong
because "/usr/local/bin/pdfsig" would be a more typical path for locally
compiled software.
To debug it, we'll need a stack trace, any error messages you are getting, and
attach a PDF that makes it crash. And put it in a new bug report instead of one
that was closed months ago.</pre>
