[poppler] Preference to cairo?

That is correct.  It is easy to disable though, just pass 
--disable-cairo-output to configure.

It's still a little rough around the edges, but it's already better in 
some places.  And the goal definitely is to improve the cairo backend to 
the point where it's obvious that it's better.
