Hey Rex,

I can confirm what Mark and Manuel have reported and would like to underscore
the importance of this issue. I'm using GNOME 3.24.1-1 and it seems that the
1.1.1-5 release of xdg-utils is not compatible with the changes.

The following warning occurs when attempting to use xdg-open on GNOME 3.24:

This tool has been deprecated, use 'gio open' instead.
See 'gio help open' for more info.

xdg-open fails to complete the action which breaks many applications,
specifically that based on the Qt framework.

This Reddit post has more information if you're interested:

As Mark mentioned, a new release would resolve this issue excellently.
