Hmm, I don't think there is something like a "default" installation of Debian.
Just to clarify this: do you mean a Debian installation with the "desktop" 
task being selected at the task selection stage or rather a base installation 
where gnome-core got installed?

Btw,  the package xdg-utils in Debian unstable depends on libgnomevfs2-bin 
(which includes gnomevfs-info), I haven't checked but I guess the one in 
testing does as well.
