You're probably right. The honest truth is that I was hoping to persuade
folks of a unified use of the .desktop; if I manage that, then it would
be inappropriate to add an xdg utility for a short lived purpose, and I could
find a way to justify putting off this work <grin of a lazy man>.

Ah, thanks - that's the subject that reads:
"Re: PATCH: Menu Spec - Categories"
right? Ironically, I'm subscribed to that list, and have that
thread in my IMAP folder. But I only searched subject headings...
