[Portland] xdg-utils on ubuntu 6.06

Hi All,

I am using xdg-utils to setup menu and desktop icons for my application on
Ubuntu 6.06. My installation application is run under root user with the
help of sudo command.

Menu hierarchy is created properly but all menu items also appear in main
Applications menu. I don't know why. Any suggestion?

Also on desktop proper icon image is not displayed instead file name "
MY-File.desktop" is displayed. This is because .desktop file created by
xdg-desktop-icon in USER_HOME/Desktop folder has rw only for root and
doesn't even has read permission for user suppose 'shahid'. Any help?
