following my initial mail for a new xdg-utils release, we (Rex Dieter and me)
would like to speed up the process. We asked administrative rights on Portland
project with Waldo agreement.

Indeed, we don't want to hijack or take over the project but only re-inject
some fresh blood. I expect waldo to be back as soon as possible.

Both of us have discussed about the next steps.
You can found the complete IRC meeting on:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~fabo/portland-meeting-20090726.txt

Please found below the summary of our discussion:

1) Review and commit easiest/obvious pending patches from bugzilla

There's 117 bugs found.
58 bugs are test reports.

7 are fixed in cvs:
11383
15827
17268
17537
18567
19382
19414

2 should be reviewed soon:
19011
19392

It remains 50 bugs to triage.

at the moment, I assigned test-report bugs like
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11125 to Waldo.
keep only users bugs on bugs.fd.o and revival of automated testsuite
later on a dedicated ml

2) Release xdg-utils RC

xdg-utils v1.0.2 is 24 June 2007.
next release will be xdg-utils v1.1.0. (new feature: KDE 4 support added)

We will release an RC asap, right after the bug triage.

showstoppers:
- KDE 4 support (should be in good shape)
- testsuite (should be in good shape)

3) Roadmap/Agenda

xdg-utils v1.1.0 rc1 week 32
xdg-utils v1.1.0 rc2 week 34
xdg-utils v1.1.0 week 36

2.0 goals:
better support for additional desktops
modularization
ie, put kde_* functions into separate files/directories

4) Switch from CVS to git

migrate after 1.1.0 is finalized.

http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/v1.6.3.3/gitcvs-migration.html

5) Documentation

documentation on administrative tasks for the project should be done.
