i don't like online polls: like john says, they tend to be incredibly
biased.  so imho it should be in person only.

now the contact methods:
- for current users, maybe we could include a poll somewhere in the
desktop itself (the about dialog?)
- for linux users, we could ask in linux shows/expos... i guess
there's at least *one* of us visiting each and every one of them.
- for techies in general, we could ask in tech (non-linux)
shows/expos... maybe we don't visit those that much, but it's a
possibility.
- and for the general public, there will always be the "ask a random
stranger in the street" method; why not using it?


oh and i think our survey should be *much* shorter than the proposed
one: it's great and everything, but people doesn't like to answer long
surveys... so a lot will just say no, and then our poll will be biased
towards those ones willing to answer long polls (ie more
enthusiastic).
