So finally there is a list. Nice to see some movement. I just hope
there will be nore flame wars... But I think both desktop have
matured. It is mostly the hotblooded youth that needs the fights.

To myself: I am a longyear GNOME user and currently founding my own
business (wiki hosting). I am somebody who always looks what could be
done better. i am not a programmer but I also would not say a I am a
marketing man. Personally I would say I am more into visions. ;-)

I am also planning a Fedora Live DVD (coming with Kadischi
[http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kadischi] on Fedora Core 5). I did
plan to put only GNOME and multimedia on it, by I now rather want to
switch to the "best of freedesktop solutions". This DVD should have
plenty of multimedia experiences patent free. So that means licensed
und CC and formats like Vorbis/Theora. (just read more at
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-livecd-list/2006-January/msg00157.html
 posting of today)

This project also might fit into this initiative here. To just start
right away - as I say in the linked post ond fedora-livecd-list: Most
Live-CDs are boring - you often get patent free technology without
"food". So Live-CDs are more for the technical folks or those who want
to see if Openoffice.org and GIMP also run on Linux. Yes they do...
Ok, that's not much.

And from the DVD project to the KDE and GNOME problems:
 * numbers: Wether KDE nor GNOME know exact numbers how much people
are using KDE/GNOME. If both work together this could be more easy.
 * Getting more people to use free desktops: How do we convince people?
 * KDE vs. GNOME: How do we stop flames between users. Should there be
an open letter to the users? I think those flames don't make free
desktops attractive.

This is it for now, maybe this could start some discussion.

Thilo

PS: Question: What else do you think should be discussed here, or what
kind of collaboration can happen?
