 The "Requirements" section on
 http://0pointer.de/lennart/projects/polypaudio/ says:

 "Optionally it can make use of ... HOWL (or preferably the compatibility
 layer included in its superior replacement Avahi) ..."

 However, the configure script only checks for "howl >= 0.9.8", but not for
 "avahi-compat-howl >= 0.9.8", so detection of HOWL/Avahi fails
 (avahi-0.6.9, polypaudio-0.8).
