Comment:

 The exact same thing also happens with the latest incarnation (0.99.77) of
 [http://www.alsaplayer.org/ AlsaPlayer] - so now we have an Open Source,
 non-proprietary application to debug this. I'll also report this on the
 ALSA Bugtracker.
