 I'd much rather prefer if we could make ourselves independant from
 libatomic_ops which unfortunately turned out to be buggy and unmaintained.
 We already have native implementations for ARM and AMD64 in atomic.h,
 another one for PPC I'd be happy to merge.

 Patches welcome!
