Comment:

 Hi coling, I just supose that all this programs uses the same method to
 access capture devices because all of them are presenting the same issue,
 but I really don't know what istanbul does behind the scenes. Sorry for
 this lapse.

 I just did this:

 {{{
 export AUDIODEV=/dev/dsp
 export AUDIODRIVER=alsa
 padsp xvidtune
 }}}

 With other programs too. And now it worked fine.

 Only for reference, I got this problem in Ubuntu 8.10 and Fedora 10
 (rawhide).
