#368: PulseAudio Fails To Start, Intermittently
---------------------+------------------------------------------------------

Component: daemon | Severity: normal

---------------------+------------------------------------------------------
About every third or fourth time on boot up, pulse audio does not start.
I get the following error messages in the /var/log/messages file:

 Sep 22 18:11:41 racer5 pulseaudio[2812]: pid.c: Stale PID file,
 overwriting.
 Sep 22 18:11:41 racer5 pulseaudio[2812]: main.c: setrlimit(RLIMIT_NICE,
(31, 31)) failed: Operation not permitted
 Sep 22 18:11:41 racer5 pulseaudio[2812]: main.c: setrlimit(RLIMIT_RTPRIO,
(9, 9)) failed: Operation not permitted

I can usually get it started by killing or restarting the daemon, but I
 shouldn't have to do that.

Below is the /etc/daemon.conf file. You can see the changes I made to it,
 to no avail.

I also made sure that my login account is a member of the pulse-access,
 pulse-rt and pulse groups.

PulseAudio version is 0.9.10 - This is the lastest version my distro
 includes (Fedora 9)

 Kernel version 2.6.26.3-29.fc9
It also didn't work reliably with kernel version 2.6.25.14-108
