 No, not really: Creative cards have multiple stereo DACs which are
 combined into one 6ch stream in software. For those we want to make sure
 that we open them as surround51:0 instead of hw:0,0, hw:0,1 hw:0,2 and so
 on -- because the primary use case is to have surround sound, not three
 independant outputs. And I kind of that your case is the same, except that
 for you it's recording, not playback.
