Good luck with that. Unfortunately the ALSA BTS doesn't get the interest
from the right people it deserves.

weekend that I really have the time to dig deeper.
Uh, uh. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ubuntu packages are broken in this
respect. Also, you need at least udev 143 for this to work. And a kernel
with the deprecated syfs stuff disabled. I doubt Debian's version
qualifies.
