 No - the file you posted a few days ago was useless for me also. I'm using
 the file you posted yesterday - *all* I have done is rename it. In
 pavucontrol I'm seeing five profiles (ignoring "Off") and these are (top
 to bottom):

 8-Channel Output, 8-Channel Input

 Digital Input/Output (8-Channel Disabled)

 8-Channel Output Active

 Digital Output Only

 System Output Only

 Which is precisely what you'd expect from the priority settings in your
 .conf file - in other words my card seems to be - at least as far as ALSA
 & Pulseaudio are concerned - identical to yours.

 I agree though - I for sure don't know enough to state that all cards with
 this chipset will behave the same.

 Good news though - at least two seem to!
