 Thanks coling.
I'm kind of afraid that I might to much of a noob (though I do know my way
around) to hang out with the big boys in this place.

I wasn't sure were to add the tched=0 line. As I told earlier I commented
out the module-hal-detect tched=0 line in the default.pa config file,
because the hal thing doesn't work with this card. That leaves me with
loading the module with load-module moudule-detect. So I added tched=0 to
 that line.
I think that stops part of pulseaudio from loading. Fx, I get connection
refused when I try to open the pulseaudion volume control. So no sound in
any apps this way, exept VLC which obviously found it's way to ALSA, and
this time without glitches. But that's just like uninstalling pulse, that
makes sound work. But I would like to have pulseaudio.

The patches-thing you suggest... I'm afraid, I don't know how to apply
them. But I installed 0.9.15 from PPA repos, so I guess they get installed
 automatically. Or what?

The same thing goes for the fix lennart mentioned, something about not
having buffersize before period size. I don't know where to correct that.
So I can't test that either. But if you can point me in the right
 direction, I will test it.

But as it is, pulse doesn't work with the HDSP. Some people say they have
made it work by installing the rt-kernel, and passing pulse through jack.
But it is such a tedious setup, that I think I might prefer to just
uninstall pulseaudio, thought that is not the solution I'm hoping for.

So please, if you have the patience, I will test your suggestions, but you
might have to tell me how. Thanks again.
