 From what I can tell, padevchooser does not supply any artwork at all. The
 icon you see is from the icon theme and is probably the default one for
 "audio-card" from hicolor.

 padevchooser is no longer developed. There are plans (by me) to introduce
 the notification elements of padevchooser into a pulse module, but I'm
 waiting for other work to be complete before using it. Selecting an active
 default sink should be possible in pavucontrol (with a little rework on
 default handling which will come soonish too). The only thing left then
 would be to pick a different server but that is such a corner case (the
 normal approach would be using tunnels from a local server to a remote
 one) that I don't think it matters.
