 Not sure if you read my longer comment before that one (the email didn't
 send for some reason), but I explained in quite some depth *why* this
 cannot go in right now due to the incorrect logic.

 Using your patch as it stands *will* create issues and does not behave
 consistently to how the pulse client library works.
