 Thanks for the information!  The good commit you talked about
 (2d94c939575e979132191b59a55d89ed34fa51ed) does seem to allow Skype to
 stay responsive.  Hopefully this weekend I'll play around with re-
 bisecting after ignoring/reverting commit
 a4cea4e469d3baf27890820eba030b7acdf63daa.  Unfortunately I've noticed even
 with this one (and I don't recall if it happened with 0.9.14) that xine
 now sometimes plays the audio with long gaps (and doesn't fix itself over
 time), so that's something else I've got to keep an eye on.  Hopefully
 this will all get sorted out eventually...
