 I'm using 0.9.16~test5 and having the same problem with muted audio.

 Is this is a problem specific to some sound cards? I have two systems
 running Debian unstable, but only one of them with this problem. The sound
 card on the system with the bug is an Intel HDA chip, 82801JI. One of the
 Debian bugs about this problem also mentions Intel HDA:

 I'm attaching a verbose log of PA starting with audio muted.
