On behalf of a Mandriva user (TPG):
PulseAudio 0.9.18
When pulse starts up and some audio played the pitch is distorted. This
distortion can be fixed if an alsa mixer is used and the PCM element is
altered in some capacity.
During volume calculations the following debug is output:
{{{
D: alsa-sink.c: Requested volume: 0: 83% 1: 83% 2: 83% 3: 83% 4: 83%
5: 83%
D: alsa-sink.c: Got hardware volume: 0: 84% 1: 84% 2: 84% 3: 84% 4:
63% 5: 63%
D: alsa-sink.c: Calculated software volume: 0: 99% 1: 99% 2: 99% 3:
99% 4: 132% 5: 132% (accurate-enough=no)
}}}
The pitch distortion does not occur when using a stereo card profile.
The hardware is some form of VIA 8235. softvol is not loaded (or so it
seems from the full output which will be attached)
