 I have similar issue at

 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E6550  @ 2.33GHz
 Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

 Sound becomes distorted at random moments. I switch profile at
 configuration tab to unsupported (for instance, to Digital Stereo Duplex)
 and then back to get normal sound.

 I did not had such problem on the same hardware with PulseAudio 0.9.15,
 but I have problem with PulseAudio 0.9.21 now.
