#831: PulseAudio configuration in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty)

I am able to configure PulseAudio to work in Skype, or to playback audio
 seamlessly, but not both simultaneously.

 In daemon.conf, if I set:

 default-fragments = 32

Then Skype records my sound correctly. Anything else, and my voice is
either sped up or slowed down during the Skype playback.

However, to ensure smooth playback in Banshee and any other audio playback
 application, I need

 default-fragments = 16

Anything else, and sound drops out or becomes jumpy after about 10-15
 seconds of playback.

I've tried fiddling with other settings in daemon.conf, including default-
 fragment-size-msec, high-priority, and realtime-scheduling, but none of
these seem to have much effect.
