 It would be nice to allow for user-specific profiles.

 So if there was a default.conf in say ~/.pulse or better yet
 ~/.local/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profile-sets/ then that file would be
 preferred over the system one.

 This would make it easier for a UI to allow users to specify which
 profiles they want shown, edit existing profiles or add new ones.
