 Thanks for your reply. Quite frankly it had been so long I forgot what the
 problem was. When it came back to me I realized that we have come to
 believe that it's a hardware problem with an old model of microphone and
 NOT a pulseaudio problem. So, I think this ticket can be closed. OK ?
