Comment:

 I've now had the chance to test your first three patches and my VLC rework
 with a combined sink.

 It seemed to work very well for me and VLC had no problem with dropping
 packets or similar. All the playback was smooth and in sync.

 So with this in mind, I think we can discard your last patch and close
 this ticket.
