Comment(by coling):

 Yeah generally speaking the pci-id/usb-id's db is generally "better"
 quality than what many devices dish out internally.

 I guess we'll need to do something to specifically disable that for f/w
 devices as I presume they simply do not have pci-ids or the equiv thereof?
 (and hopefully the quality of the metadata they dish out generally is
 better anyway).
