Classification: Unclassified
Product: PulseAudio
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: misc

Reproducing the pause audio delay bug on a ATI computer configuration with
mplayer2
Computer Configuration:
-Ubuntu 11.10 32bit (Wubi & Unity, and using the default pulseaudio packages as
provided with Ubuntu 11.10)
-AMD X2 7750
-ATI 4830
-Running multi-monitor
-ASROCK N68-S (Audio: VIA VT1708S)
-2GB System Memory
To reproduce the audio pause delay:
1) Open a Nautilus window.
2) Open a terminal window.
3) Open a video from the terminal window: "mplayer -vo gl -ao pulse file.mkv"
4) Pause the now running video with the spacebar.
5) Alt+Tab to the Nautilus window.
6) Left-click on the mplayer2 video window.
When you unpause and then repause the video window, you should now be able to
observe the issue where the video will instantly pause, but the audio will
continue on for about a second after before then stopping.
Related Bug #2:
Also in relation to this bug, an unpausing issue is seen when doing the
following:
1) Open a Nautilus window.
2) Open a terminal window.
3) Open a video from the terminal window: "mplayer -vo gl -ao alsa file.mkv"
4) Pause the now running video with the spacebar.
5) Alt+Tab to the Nautilus window.
6) Left-click on the mplayer2 video window.
7) After unpausing, repausing, and then unpausing the video a few times more,
you should be able to observe a issue where the video and audio will remain
paused after attempting to unpause. The use of "-ao alsa" is required to
trigger this bug. The use of "-ao pulse" corrects the unpausing issue.
Notes:
These test were done while running multi-monitors (2 monitors total.), but all
running windows were present only on the primary monitor. All tests were done
using the latest mplayer2-build as of 2012-04-17 12:58:31 (UTC).
