I also am unable to use pulseaudio to connect to an AVR-1912, with similar
errors to Raphael. The 1912 works fine with other clients, in my case I was
able to successfully control it with an android client named "iMediaShare
Lite", which likely rules out 1912 itself as the cause.

In my case the Denon just briefly shows a "Connecting..." message until
presumably a timeout is reached after the failed SETUP.
