My friend has a weird crackling that will happen on GNU/Linux Mint 14 where
there's a sudden crackling and static feedback.
I was able to get rid of the problem by purging Pulseaudio.
I was able to temporarily fix the bug by doing a killall on Pulseaudio.
Here's the audio output via lspci -vv:
