João Paulo Rechi Vita is working on it, or at least has been. I haven't heard
anything from him for a while. There shouldn't be huge amounts of work left,
since patches already exist for the functionality (and are being used in Tizen
at least). Those patches just need to be ported to current master and
finalized.

As for being a "critical regression", it's a distro regression, not PulseAudio
regression (which you might already know, but I just wanted to make it clear
here).
