We need a better understanding of your laptop. Which of the following
statements is accurate?

1. The laptop has both Intel and NVidia graphics. Intel drives the laptop
screen, NVidia drives HDMI.

2. The laptop has only NVidia graphics.

3. Something else.

If the first statement is true, do you use Bumblebee, Primus or built-in PRIME
support in your X server to make these video cards cooperate? Is your NVidia
card normally in the powered-down state?

It would be useful if you attach the "pulseaudio -vvv" log and "pactl list"
output.
