If the mixer settings have bad defaults, that's probably something that is
better fixed in alsa. http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Bug_Tracking

We can add special handling for specific devices in pulseaudio, if someone
writes configuration for them that is generally better than what our generic
configuration does.
