Does "speaker-test --device=hdmi:0,0 --channels=6" work? You can also try with
--channels=8. This test bypasses PulseAudio, so if surround audio doesn't work
with plain alsa, there's nothing PulseAudio can do.

hdmi:0,0 corresponds to "HDMI" in PulseAudio, hdmi:0,1 corresponds to "HDMI 2"
and hdmi:0,2 corresponds to "HDMI 3".
