>From my point of view, the problem is resolved if I apply proposed changes in
comments above. Also limitation of writable size to stream's tlength can be
loosen up to maxlength (if silence was played, buffer should be empty).

If you haven't objections, I would like to send a patch or patches (if
modification of stream.c and memblockq.c should be in separate patches).
