Wouldn't the exact same behavior be expected when the Alsa plugin is used if
it's a hardware defect. Even if that's the case, Alsa and Pulseaudio at least
seem to handle it in different ways.

Anyway, I'm super thankful for the workaround! This thing has been driving me
crazy lately. Thank you! :)
