Yes, AFAIK mythv wrongly assumes that every output plugin does memory
mapping. Which the PA plugin does not support, and thus the ALSA
backend for mythv doesn't work at all on PA. 

That was at least true a couple of weeks ago when someone reported
this on the ML.
