Yep, the problem is that when PA creates a sink for device hw0,0 the
driver doesn't force 48kHz sampling. When it creates a sink for device
default it does, PA complains about not being able to set 44.1kHz and
switches to 48kHz.
Setting the default sampling to 48kHz makes PA create the sinks with
48kHz and all's fine.
From all that I can only suppose that the intel driver either doesn't
say at all, what sampling the card requires or does say it's compatible
with 44.1kHz while it isn't.
I've got two Dell laptops that behave exactly the same way.
