It's a bit late for me to read your mail fully just now, but it is 
generally accepted that padevchooser is dead. There are lots of things 
about the way in which it works that is bad and Lennart has publicly 
stated that it's not going to be developed. That's not to say it's not 
useful and I actually do personally run it, but to be honest, I only do 
this to run pavucontrol easily so ti's a bit dumb! I quite like the 
popups/notifications but I've got other plans for replacing that bit....

I'll explain more shortly when I can reply to this message without my 
eyes closing :)
