As an Arch user myself, I can confirm that by default Avahi will not be
started up. You just need to add it to your rc.conf. Or start it
manually from /etc/rc.d/avahi-daemon start. But don't use padevchooser,
as Lennart said. Pavucontrol should have all you need.
