I've not read your whole mail yet, but I'd just like to point out that
there are several pacat related changes on git master....

I'll try and respond to your mail tomorrow if I can (too tired right
now) if someone doesn't beat me to it.

    pacat: always fully fulfill write requests

    Make sure we always fulfill write requests from the server. If we don't
    the server won't ask us again and playback will stay stuck.
